Free Book (Kindle) - Face of Betrayal

Face of Betrayal, by Lis Wiehl & April Henry, is the first in their Triple Threat series from Christian publisher Thomas Nelson.

Book Description
While home on Christmas break, a seventeen-year-old Senate page takes her dog out for a walk and never returns.

Reporter Cassidy Shaw is the first to break the story. The resulting media firestorm quickly ensnares Federal Prosecutor Allison Pierce and FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges. These three unique women, life-long friends, call themselves The Triple Threat--a nickname derived from both their favorite dessert and their uncanny ability to crack cases using their three positions of power.

At first, the authorities think Katie might have been kidnapped or run away, but those theories shatter when Nicole uncovers Katie's blog. Posts reveal a girl troubled by a mysterious relationship with an older man . . . possibly a U.S. Senator.

There are many faces of betrayal, but they must find one face in a crowd of growing suspects before they become the next victims.

Also free in the Sony store (but not B&N or Kobo, so far).

Although from a Christian publisher, not what most consider Christian fiction. Some of the review complain that there isn't a "strong Christian message", in light of the three leads being of different (or no) faiths. More like Murder Club, but not as raunchy, I think one said. For example, no explicit sex (but it does occur, even, gasp!, amongst those not married).

It should be noted that this is book is provided by Amazon in Topaz format, in case that matters to folks.

Also, it is now showing up as free at B&N (for U.S.)

I noticed the Topaz thing...I'm trying to decide whether to go ahead and create accounts at Sony and B&N for cases like this so I can download in something other than Topaz.

Yeah, I grabbed the epub from B&N after seeing it was Topaz. Given the book already exists in a true "text-based" format, I don't know why Amazon is using Topaz for this one.

Technically not Amazon, but Thomas Nelson. Not sure why though, it's not as though fancy fonts or complicated pictures or tables are an issue in this type of book.

Isn't Amazon directly involved in the creation of Topaz books, though?

Yes, as a service to the publisher. What I see a lot of lately is re-issue of books that were in topaz as mobi (often both remain on sale at Amazon, even).
