Finished Iliad Apps and Hacks

Since there are now several small apps and some working hacks for the Iliad itself and of course for content creation, I thought it might be time to create a sticky where people can find them easily.

Post here:

The name of your app/hack.

What it does.

The version/date

A link to a thread with more details and a discussion of the app/hack.

The "risk factor", bricking danger...

Let's keep this thread clean, app/hack postings only!
Thanks.

The name of your app/hack.

BBC News on Illiad

What it does

Allows you to read BBC News on your Illiad. Get the results from here, download, expand and place on your Illiad.. Available here . very unlikely to brick Illiads... Now includes (quick + nasty) source code...

The version/date

1.21

Last edited by jęd; 10-25-2006 at 10:54 AM. Reason: Added source code, actual vs number....

The name of your app/hack:

ConvertChm

What it does:

Converts chm files to html and inserts internal links to allow easy reading on the Illiad. Download Here . Requires perl and extract_chmlib...

The version/date:

1.7

Enjoy...!

Its misleadingly called convertJpgsToPdf, but really it converts cbr files to pdfs and available from here...

Up until zooming worked in PDF it wasn't that useful, but now it does its quite handy... Check out sam2p and pdftk, they're really useful programs if you need to slice, dice and frappe pdf... Very Happy

Enjoy, if you like quick and dirty perl code...

New version of this:

* scales text to avoid having to press buttons on Illiad
* creates index.html in directory to allow web viewing to be easier
* fixes broken images with ";" included in image path

Thanks.
Roland's idea to start organizing the hacks is excellent, and I promised him to bring some order in here (I'll probably use the Wiki instead though). Unfortunately I was too busy these days, so I couldn't do it yet. But I will in the next few days... promised!

I second that. Instructions on how to install a particular software as as important as the program itself

idea:
make the "iLiad Software" page a category page and move the individual descriptions to their own pages with a [[Category:Iliad_Software]] tag.
