That's one weird website. Is there another link to an official announcement... on an official website... that's hosted on an official amazon.com domain? Just sayin'

For those who annotate. For me, it's a wasted feature and plays no part in any buying decisions.

This could mean considerable trouble for Sony. If Amazon delivers on the library lending, one of the significant differences between the Sony Reader and the Kindle will be gone. In fact, the Reader's library borrowing might become less valuable. If libraries are forced to choose between supporting the Kindle and supporting the Reader, the greater popularity of the Kindle might sway them to drop Reader support.

Of course, the touchscreen is still a differentiator, but it does make things look a little sketchier for the Reader.

I think the Nook Color is distinct enough from the Kindle that it won't really be threatened by this.

Jailbreak the Color and it's an Android tablet capable of reading any format out there. So no matter which format wins the Library Wars, the Nook Color will be able to read the winner.

KindleKitten has got to be thrilled. (Grins)

I am speculating here but I think Amazon is going to be underwriting the purchase of ebooks for the libraries. The annouoncement specifically mentions how Amazon is working with Overdrive and little is said about the libraries themselves.

Is the Kindle going to be the first of the ereaders that allows note taking for ebooks? I would have thought that you could do that on the Sony and the Nook. Synching is going to be great.

Very true. I think the Nook Color will be safe. The Nook Classic? Not so much...
