To me CLEARink seems to have the most promising ePaper / eColor solution I have seen so far. But still we have to be patient.

"Very good" wasn't my impression from those videos, even if I agree that CLEARink is likely the most promising that we've seen (so far) in reflective color displays.

I assume that they have their best screens on display. If so then they are really disappointing.

There were lots of stuck pixels on the larger display and the smaller one had intermittent horizontal lines. Contrast wasn't great on either one.

I was impressed with the contrast on the B&W display myself. Note that the big display was last year's prototype.There's clearly quite a lot more development needed.

The fact that they've got so far with the technology in such a short time suggests that this approach may be viable.

It is also worth remembering that they develop the display itself, not the substrate layer. IIRC, they said the prototype displays do not have proper display controllers either. At least last year they didn't.

We had a great SID DisplayWeek 2018 show in Los Angeles, May 22 - 25. We showed off our latest ePaper 2.0 color/video demos that had a 90% increase in resolution, 30% increase in color gamut, 50% reduction in drive voltage and our monochrome displays had a 50% increase in contrast. If you stopped by to see us, thank you. If you missed the show, here is a video that gives you a glimpse to our booth. The response from the show has been overwhelming and it will take us a few days to catch up on our correspondence. As you know, prior to the show we announced the opening of an office in Eindhoven as well as one in China.
At the show, we signed an agreement with a leading tablet maker (name withheld per their request), to supply a minimum of $10M worth of displays starting in 2019, see the press release below. We expect to announce more such agreements in the next few weeks.
After the trade show, we are now fully focused on scaling up for production, its a long hard road but we have an awesome team working on it, we have best in class partners supporting us, thank you for your kind support.

I saw those videos from eink. Unfortunately their ACeP looks the same as two years ago and look the refresh rate (from 4:42 - 4:56). It will not play video even in five years. But anyway this is the CLEARink news thread and not eInk's.

I know what you mean. But one question: How many of those who failed in the past (Liquavista, Mirasol etc.) won awards with LG, Samsung, Tianman etc. in the ring? CLEARink did so: Best in show at the Display Week 2017, Best Technical Development Materials at IDTechEx 2017.

I hope you are right. Nothing I would like more than to enjoy a big screen color ereader in 2019... hopefully!
