Not decades ago but the way things are going there will be a cure for several cancers in full use by the end of the decade.

Check this one:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44090512...-expectations/

Several recent targetted treatment techniques are proving spectacularly effective:

And then there is this:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18563_16...e-cancer-cure/

Cancer is a very difficult problem because it is not one problem but dozens.
But there's a lot of very smart people attacking it.
Cures for many types are coming.
Not to 7-11, but possibly to Walgreens.

Some drivers will stop by every day and ask if you have packages for pickup. Others will not and some are down right rude, when they are at another store next to you, and you tell them you have a package for them. If you want UPS to come by every day for pickup they do charge a monthly fee. I used to have a driver who would drive by every day to see if you needed a pickup. He was out for a while with a back injury. When he started back they split his area to make it easier for him. Unfortunately I am no longer in his area and the new regular driver is an ass. Not to mention he drives excessively fast in parking lots.

Amazon and I believe many other companies already do this in Japan-it's a normal service. And it's even more convenient because in Japan (well, Tokyo at least) there's practically a convenience store on every block so there's rarely more than a 5 minute walk to go pick up your package. Very useful for people who are single and living by themselves.

Amazon operate a similar service in the UK for returning items. You can drop off a package to be returned to Amazon at a large range of local convenience stores.
The UPS pickup location is about 45 minutes from me and the Fedex one is a little farther. Both in the same direction, but the opposite direction from where my normal travels take me.

I have done this a couple times though when I have really needed a package (leaving town or something) and missed it or it didn't arrive in time for them to deliver it that day.

The post office is much more convenient, but tends to have long lines.

A nice convenience for city dwellers, curious, what happens if you miss the pickup window?
For small town dwellers such as myself, it's a non-starter. The nearest 7-Eleven is 45 minutes away. My post office is 5 minutes away. Fed Ex and UPS maybe 10 minutes away.

I've never had a problem with anything delivered to my porch; things that require a signature I get delivered to work.

But I know that doesn't fly everywhere, so it's nice that there's this option.

I live in one of the areas where the Amazon service is available; I have at least three 7-Elevens in walking distance.

But none of the three is a pickup point.
