Pocketbook Era - Series not working

Hi all,

I have a few books in series(GoT, HP, etc.) In calibre they are in series and I can sort them properly. When I Send To Device, some will appear in series others won't. My example would be all the GoT but the 3rd one have the series sub text in the library viewer

I read something online, the Meta tags need to have the proper format being the key and value instead of value then key. I checked this and all they the books that work have it formated properly and so does the "not" working book.

I am familiar with the pocketbook database so I viewed it and sure enough, the "not" working book has no value in books_impl for series and series number. If I update it manually it works.

I downloaded an app called PbDBFix from Martin which scans the database against the meta file for each book that does fix it, but I'm wondering why this happens and if I can fix this without running a separate app.

I have tried to use the Calibre Pocketbook better driver plugin but it never recognizes my Era.

If there is way to fix this without the PBDBFix app or maybe somehow have this app run periodically(every day at 5pm or something) that would be great.

Thanks!

Attach books with working and non-working series to your post...

If you can't post the actual (copyrighted) books then unzip both and attach their OPF files.

Glad to hear that at least my litte tool can fix the database entries.

It is often the case that metadata is read in EPUB2 but not (reliably) in EPUB3. Sometimes it can be the other way around. But in your case this doesn't seem to be the problem.

I recommend you to inform PocketBook about the problems. If they're given enough information, I think they're quite willing to continue to improve the metadata reading.

Maybe the problem is with the Calibre Pocketbook driver.

You could try using Save to Disk instead, selecting your Pocketbook as the disk to save to.

You can find it here. Under Releases, you can download the PbDbFixer.app file, which you should copy into the applications-directory of your PocketBook reader. Use at your own risk.
