Hopefully there is none.
However, when there is indexing, its duration depends on the number of books newly added and it grows very quickly. When indexing is disabled I have no problems using CR with 50,000 books (or more) on the external card. Provided they are in a tree of nested folders so the number of subfolders or books in one folder is not too big. I mean, CR is perfect for those who like keeping many books on the card. It is also great for those who like wide margins. I had issues with native software and with various other readers - they often allow only very narrow margins, not enough for me in landscape orientation. A tip: CR allows to enable/disable the internal formatting of books. It is "Enable document internal styles" in settings. It can be mapped to a button (or to a tap zone) by using "Toggle document styles". Very useful for testing quickly which way the book you opened looks better. Is anyone using Overdrive on their T63? Doesn't seem to work with the page turn buttons unless they're switched to work as volume buttons and even them the screen flickers too much (possibly an animation I couldn't switch off). Anyone had a better experience?

Another question, even with the system language set to English, the WiFi Delay entires in the User Settings are still in mandarin. Can anyone tell me what they are please? Or provide a working download link to a firmware where this has been fixed?

The porno site BangGood raised the price - just when I was about to order today.
Promotional sale for $137 was supposed to end on January 20. But now, on January 18 it says: Promotional sale from January 17 to February 6: $142. What to do now? Boycott the GoodBangers and order Kepler Pro? How much worse Kepler Pro is? Probably much heavier? |

The Kepler weighs 205g compared to the JDRead's 190g. As far as which is better/worse, YMMV, but the Kepler is generally considered to have better build quality, and comes with official (as opposed to semi-official) English firmware. It is however a less conventional eReader design.

I have been meaning to get an ereader for nearly two years now. The Boyue T63 looks to fulfill my basic requirements. Can anyone please tell how easy/difficult is it to operate one-handed? I am already suffering from aches if I hold my 5" smartphone for too long(swiping the touchscreen is tiring and the volume buttons are either too high or too low in any orientation possible). How is the placement of the page-turn buttons? The Onyx C67ML Carta 2 looks a lot taller than the Boyue T63 and I guess it wont be as easy to hold as the latter.
My old Nokia Symbian phone was great in this regard. But the ePUB reader was Java-based and long outdated.Ditto for MobiPocket reader. But the small screen was not ideal. Last edited by atonement; 01-21-2017 at 01:45 PM. |

I haven't tried the official version for a few years now, because with each next "improvement" it kept getting worse and worse. And the author of the official version did not respond to requests to fix things. Jotas, on the other hand, was very helpful and implemented everything I ever asked him for. And I asked him for a number of things, even for not related to e-ink ones - for example, how the status line separator should look (a secret value was introduced, if you enter it - it looks much better), etc. So his version is tailored to my taste and specifically, for landscape orientation. It supports portrait as well, of course, but some things were moved around to make the more important ones available on the screen directly even in landscape so that no buttons or scrolling are needed. The official version did the opposite: more unnecessary things were added pushing useful items out of the screen and requiring stupid animated scrolling because buttons were not working. Yes, there were problems with the buttons with the official release. But I am using T2 with 5 buttons. I am not sure how things look like with the latest official release with only 2 buttons. But even the page turning buttons were not working correctly in settings in the official release last I tried it. I haven't tried CC yet. Not sure if it even runs on android 2.2.1. But what happens with CC if you put 50 thousand books on a card? The internal file manager is not choking with such numbers as long as the books are split into multiple nested folders. I usually keep them in folders like this: AUTHORS ....A ....B ....C ....--- ....S ........Smith, John ............[Series 1 name] ...............01. Book 1 title.epub ...............02. Book 2 title.epub ...............--- ............[Series 2 name] ............--- ............[Series n name] ............(anthologies) ............(collaborations) ............stand-alone ............... A title (2016).epub ............short fiction ............collections ............non-fiction ....--- ....Z ANTHOLOGIES COLLABORATIONS Where folders named (something) contain only links or something that serves as links. So there are 4 inner levels in this example. I actually have even more levels Last edited by parkher; 01-21-2017 at 03:45 PM. |

They're actually quite convenient -- if you turn your eReader upside down (use a reading app, or some independent app that inverts the screen). I typically use it (right handed) with my thumb supporting the right, my pinky supporting the bottom and my three remaining fingers on the lower left -- the middle of which is ideally placed to firmly press the next-page button.

Unless there are special holes or cut-outs for the buttons in the cover. Even then, how could they work when the cover is folded all the way back. |

It comes with a magnetic cover. I haven't had a problem with the page-turn buttons with it. Then again, I push mainly the page-forward button, and that button is the more accessible of the two (being on the side opposite the spine of the cover).

Just bought the energy pro HD as it was available refurb for €70 with 3 year warranty on the ES site. Didn't really need it but hey.
Is there a way of contacting boyue to request a feature? I like my t63 but having to switch the buttons around so much is annoying. |

So they both, T63 and Kepler Pro have the same number of buttons? Only one button on each side? But T63 has them on the top side and Kepler Pro on the bottom?
I hope that with Cool Reader it is possible to map anything to the buttons, for example, you may have with the single click "next page" on both sides and with the double click "previous page" on both sides - if you like. I feel I would want "toggle internal styles" and "recent books" mapped to the buttons. As these are things I use most frequently after "next page". I also like "toggle status bar" (called "Title Bar" in CR) on a button. So that it shows up only when I want to check something on it, otherwise - more space for text. But there is also long press available for buttons too. And also 9 tap zones. I like next/previous page disabled on touch screen to avoid accidental page turns, but something obvious could be done with tapping the screen. Last edited by parkher; 01-23-2017 at 03:06 PM. |
