Coffee again this morning. I really need to break this habit, but I admit, I'm addicted to the 'perk' it gives me. And tea just doesn't do that. Tea does contribute to the overall background caffeine level (a good thing, at least in the morning), but it doesn't really have the immediacy of coffee. And yet, I prefer it in many ways, and I can drink it without added sugar or milk. Coffee still requires a bit of sugar for me, though I've dropped the milk out of the equation and cut that sugar in half.

I certainly don't! That would put me into "shoot me now" territory. Dark roast, black, no sugar, boiling hot. Ah!

But seriously, why break it? As habits/addictions go, it's about as benign as you can get. Negligible calories the way you drink it, it doesn't break the bank, it has some health benefits even as it starts you up in the AM. And it's so very delicious.

But tea is so much nicer! I actually prefer tea, and I went for years without drinking coffee at all, nor not much, simply drinking tea in the morning, and through about 4PM in the afternoon. But now this coffee habit has taken over my life! (It started when I was teaching last fall at UBC, staying at a hotel in Vancouver, and stopping for a morning latte and breakfast croissant at the French patisserie across the street from UBC. Since then...)
