Calibre's UI font is messed up

I've managed to fix it. I think the font I've been using was broken. I've reinstalled it and the problem disappeared. Thanks...

Reminds me of mojibake, though if I'm remembering correctly that tends to be incorrect character encoding rather than messed-up fonts.

IIRC, mojibake was mostly in browsers. Sometimes it happened if you manually set the wrong encoding (I don't know if any modern browser lets you do this anymore) or if the wrong one was sent in the HTTP header.

There was also an email client (Eudora?) that sometimes set the wrong encoding.

Nothing that I think could help for it happening in Calibre.

Eudora, like original Wordstar, didn't do International AT ALL, though Wordstar was worse being only 7 bit ASCII.

I switched from Eudora to something else in 2003 or 2004 and Thunderbird in 2005, I've still archived emails, imported from Eudora originally, since at least 2002.

Look at Pandora.I imported 20 years of Eudora, including Accounts, filters.
Not as slick looking, but it does UTF8

It's only Windows.
I was able to use the SAME Thunderbird files on Windows & Linux dual boot (with Windowss exe and Linux install) for years before moving 100% to Linux only in 2017.

I don't care for slick, esp so called "modern GUIs". Mozilla really messed up Thunderbird & Firefox. A recent Thunderbird update was especially ghastly but I was able to edit the CSS to differentiate mail folders.

My slick comment was about Pandoras icons being cruder (IMHO) than the original (PAID 2.0-7.1) .
I tried Thundora when it first appeared and I could never get it to import everything (I had, and still have, multiple accounts, filters...)
