So Glad I found this Forum!
Hello MobileRead:

New to MobileRead and so glad I stumbled across it in my (still fruitless) google search.

I was gifted a Kindle 3 for Christmas. I have to admit, this was at the dead last bottom of my list of devices I wanted to support-despite the fact that the hardware itself is pretty superior. I've been using Kobo, iBooks, nook, kindle, and stanza on my iphone for several months and liked that I didn't have to commit to another device/another piece of something to carry around.

Then the unexpected Christmas gift came along and it was given with such a sincere and earnest desire that I like it that I didn't have the heart to ditch it. As I said, I was never a detractor of the hardware-the e-ink is great, the button positioning on the kindle 3 clearly shows vast improvement over previous generations. But I was really holding off to see where the whole file format issue was going to go before springing for another device.

Anyway, here I am with a great device (for the most part) and a number of books in other formats I'd like to transfer over to my kindle 3 but can't. (I'm on an old old pre-intel mac no less). .

From just a cursory glance through the top threads I'm sure I'll be spending plenty of time lurking around trawling the threads here and I'm sure I'll glean plenty of useful information.

So Thanks in advance to all those who answer my stupid questions and share their knowledge and experience with how to maximize the Kindle 3!
