CLEARink, latest news
It seems that from time to time CLEARink will give me an update about the progress they make.
At the moment they are very busy and in the last several months they received thousand inquiries. Presently the trial factory production is occurring in China. They are also launching a developers kit later in the year. The first samples will be their video ink based displays. There will also be color via color filter approach as this is a very cost effective solution. The goal is to produce their own displays in China and sell direct to OEMs as well as sell the display modules via its joint venture in China. But we have to be patient because developing new hardware is not an easy task. In April Sri Peruvemba, CMO of CLEARink, will speak at the IDTechEx in Berlin. As I am from Berlin maybe I can meet him and get the next update. Last edited by Matilo; 02-04-2018 at 06:50 PM. |

CLEARink list eSchoolbooks on their solutions page. There is no link to anywhere else, so it seems to be part of CLEARink.

If they release a device that's big enough and with monitor abilities, I will buy it and not hesitate. The promised low costs make this a very attractive alternative to E-ink and E-ink monitors such as Dasung or Onyx. No more spending a fortune.

Soon we shall see, because if they don't come with a good working prototype for a mass production till July, it is probably more realistic they will never really make it, like all e-paper predecessors, let alone in 2018 or 2019.

ClearInk looks like a really interesting technology. But considering how long Liquavista have been in development, I'm not expecting to see a ClearInk product on sale this year, and probably not next year, either.

for what i've understand, ClearInk is a "simpler" tech. On the other hand, maybe, there's no need for a color ebook reader, outside very small niches (as someone has pointed out in another thread)

If they can make a vivid colour display that uses a lot less power than LCD or even OLED, then it will have a big market.

I would love a ClearInk device, and I'm still feeling optimistic about it. If I remember correctly, I think they said that it is quite easy for them to manufacture ClearInk in existing factories with very little modification, which I think improves the chances that they will go into production sooner rather than later or never. Aren't they targeting education and textbooks though? At least in the beginning stage?
