any tools that subset embedded fonts for multiple epubs?

I am well aware that calibre editor and sigil with plugin can do the subset operation one by one.

But I have thousands of epub files to do this for.

Can calibre or sigil do this or are there dedicated tools for this purpose?

There's a --subset-font option in the calibre-debug tool.

You would use it in a script that cycled through a directory tree. Do a search for: [OS]: batch processing, where [OS] is Windows, MacOS or Linux.

You can use the Calibre GUI to subset fonts. You select the ePub you want and then right click and select Polish books. From there you can select to subset fonts and Calibre will subset all the selected ePub. Quite simple really.

I’m pretty sure the OP is aware of both Calibre’s and Sigil’s one off functionality… the OP stated as much in their opening sentence… lolz

The OP is aware it can be done in Calibre via the editor but only one at a time.

The OP is asking if there is a way to subset fonts in bulk using Calibre or Sigil and I posted the solution for Calibre.

The downside of using calibre GUI in this instance is that the OP would have to add "thousands of epub files" to a library, and after running Polish Books extract the same quanta of epubs from it, then remove books from the library, and finally empty the garbage.

@Turtle91 - many (most ?) of the calibre tools can be applied to multiple books.

What garbage? And why would it be a problem to add eBook to a Calibre library? And why would the eBooks have to be removed from the library?
