Reader as Dictionary
I found out, that it is pretty comfortable to use a Sony T2 as a dictionary--w/o actually reading a book. So, you could use it to decipher the menu in a Spanish restaurant, say.
I wonder, does this work on a Kindle (touch or pw) and Kobo as easily? Hendrik |

You can do this on a Kobo. You have to be in a book to get the menu, and you'd need to make sure you have the proper dictionary downloaded ahead of time (i.e. the Spanish to English -- there are a number of included different languages with the Kobo, but you have to select them to download since they don't want to clog up the device with dictionaries you have no interest int), but you do have the option to look up or translate any random word that you type in. Not sure how good the translation dictionaries are, but should get you the basics anyway.

Yes, you can search for words in the Kindle's dictionaries.

No need to open a dictionary. From any page (either the home page or within a book), simply tap the top of the screen to display the menu bar, tap search, enter your search word, and set the search location to "Dictionary". The screen will display a list of all headwords in the dictionary matching your search term. Tap one of them to display its definition.
