Chrome tablet

It looks like google is designing a chrome tablet, in another article I read it would also include ebook reader but I can't find that link anymore, but I found this one:

There was a slashdot article about this as well. It's better than the iPad in that you'll be able to install your own apps, but other than that I think it's not terribly interesting. Tablets have been around for years (I used to have a Compaq tablet). I really don't understand why there's suddenly such an interest with them. The batteries don't last anywhere near as well as a reader, and they're full of all kinds of distractions to reading.

That said, I think tablets are great computing devices. I'm just not a fan of them for reading on.
