Becke, Louis: Pacific Tales. v1. 13 June 07

Ready for a vacation? Tired of the grind? Want to avoid another war? Then come with me to the South Pacific Islands - a paradise at the turn of the last century.

You're buying the first drink. I'll take the one with the little umbrella in it...that one over there, that one. Yeah, I'll have what she's drinking.

George Louise Becke [1855-1913], better known as Louis Becke, was a short-story writer and novelist prominent in the 1890s. He was a frequent traveller to the South Pacific islands, and his experiences are reflected in his many works. His time in the Pacific includes a stay on Beru (Kiribati) in the 1880's, where he was shipwrecked, as well as time in the Marshalls and further afield in the company of Bully Hayes.

I hope you enjoy these short stories.
