Kindle file not recognised

I have just bought a book from Amazon and i can read it in their PC reader.
(I am running their reader in virtual box on Ubuntu 12.04} but not in Calibre.

I tried to find the author in amazon via your get books but it could not do so. Nothing was found with that name even though I could see the book for sale in Amazon!

My Calibre .8.38 is running under linux and I am able to read a few other books in it including an out of copywrite pride and prejudice in mobi format

I wondered if I was dealing with an out of date version so ran:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:n-muench/calibre

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install calibre

And the calbire version number available in the repositary has not changed.

After loading the book I have just bought into Calibre the entry into the library says XXXX-Unknown .azw3

I found some messages dealing with the same problem at

But I can not find an AZW3 file type to click.

I have tried to load the azw file and I get an error message from wine:

In order to automate it have I understood the cron setup correctly?
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/calibre-upgrade.sh /etc/cron.weekly/calibre-upgrade

(note i have removed the sh from the object link)

I am not clear when cron.weekly will run. Is that a system operation not controlled by a cron script?
