They'll see an increase in orders. Many who were interested in the NOOK because of Netflix will have another reason to consider Amazon. Unless they're die hard .epub only folks or rooters.

It'd be nice to be able to see all the apps that are available for Fire before purchasing the device. There's a Some of Our Favorite Kindle Fire Apps page at Amazon, but that doesn't show many. |

I'm a big fan of Aldiko, and I would like to see it on the Kindle Fire. My wife is leaning towards getting a KF for Christmas |

Not unless they bump up the storage and add a card reader. Streaming is nice, but requires wifi.

For obvious reasons, apps requiring hardware not present on the Fire probably won't work but aside from those, Amazon has already said in an earlier press release that apps available on the Amazon Appstore should work fine on the Fire.

Possibly for a handful of folks within that target market who are spec driven. But if it's a basic choice between Amazon's stuff and B&N's stuff, there's no match up.

This gives me hope! Mantano is my reading app. I just need Mantano, Dropbox and ES File Explorer to work. Sideloading apps would be a plus!

Could you check ES File Explorer and see if it has a check by it?

Yes, they should work fine. But, they haven't confirmed that they would all be available!

Hundreds of thousands of pre-orders -- a number that will easily surpass 7 digits over the holiday season -- say, you're in the minority. |

I really look for ward to trying this out next to my iPad. I love the amazon ecosystem as much as I love apple ecosystem. So I look forward to the best of both worlds. But I'm more curious about trying out the smaller device. Not that I don't like the iPad size, I love it, but just so I get a better sense of what something different feels like.
