Calibre does not parse the TOC (NCX) for any other purpose.
Except for NAV and NCX files, there are no standards. Many older books only have an (automatic) Start because there were no entries in the NCX. One of my 'cleanup' tasks, is to generate a NCX (TOC) when possible (If the chapter headings are ONLY images, this is not even doable semi-automated. I have a number of saved Search and Replace that I use as building blocks. |
