I've been waiting for Ovidia Yu's latest title in her SuLin series, set in Occupied Singapore, to go on sale, and now it has. The Mimosa Tree Mystery has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle and Kobo US, which is a nice price for a recently published book. Although certainly not hard-boiled or noir, this series is less cozy than Yu's earlier Aunty Lee series. I've liked both series a lot. And now, having snagged the new one, I'm looking forward to some good reading sometime soon!

Mirza, a secretive neighbour of the Chens in Japanese Occupied Singapore, is a known collaborator and blackmailer. So when he is murdered in his garden, clutching a branch of mimosa, the suspects include local acquaintances, Japanese officials -- and his own daughters.

Also, just as an aside, if you like historical mysteries set in Singapore, I've quite enjoyed two recent books by AM Stuart: Singapore Sapphire, and Revenge in Rubies, both set a bit earlier in time, in early 20th century Singapore. Bluegate Fields By Anne Perry $.99 Amazon, Kobo and B&N
I have yet to start this series but as it's up to book 32 or so, popular historical mystery series. Mysteries set in Victorian England. This is book 6 of Thomas & Charlotte Pitt series. While most series benefit from starting from book 1, comments indicate you can start anywhere as the cases are limited to each book. Also, please note that Amazon readers have complained about typo errors although the last of these were in 2016. They may have cleaned these up by now.
