new ipod owner

I have had a kindle for about a year and use calibre constantly. I have just got my first ipod touch and found a kindle app. I plugged it in my PC and opened calibre but it doesn't see it.
Can anyone explain in a non-techy way how to add books to my ipod touch plz?

Calibre only supports iBooks for USB transfer on an iOS devices as this is the only one that has direct iTunes support.

If you want to use the Kindle app then the easiest way is to transfer books by emailing them to your Kindle account which will result in them being downloaded over WiFi..
