Can I create a new metadata?

Hi.

I used to use Moon+ Reader, but after an update it erased the tags of my 150 books, so I decided to change.

I installed Mantano Reader Premium.
Well, like any e-book reader, Mantano lets me sort the books by tag, author, ... and, for my surprise, I can also sort them by series. And that's my doubt!

Suppose I have the books The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. What (and how ) can I do so that Mantano Reader understands that these 3 books belong to the Lord of the Ring serie?

There is no standard metadata for series. Calibre uses its own. So, if it isn't in the documentation what the reader uses, it will be trial and error.

I have a book called "O Mar de Monstros", which Mantano added to the "Percy Jackson e os Olimpianos" serie.

I used Sigil to edit the content.opf file but, as I undestand nothing about html codes, I simply copied and pasted these lines over another book OPF. I altered the name and serie of the book and pasted it at the same position... just below </dc:language>. It didn't work!

I very much doubt Mantano is using calibre metadata entries to organize books "by series."

You'd probably be better served posting the entire metadata section (or the entire OPF file) of an ePub that behaves as expected in Mantano. Someone might be able to pick out the particulars that way.

Here's the entire content.opf. The name of the book is "O Mar de Monstros", and Mantano understands that it belongs to the serie "Percy Jackson e os Olimpianos".

p.s. I don't use Calibre. It's not even installed. I use Sigil to edit the epubs.

Lots of Publishers use Calibre in their work flow. One can only hope that Kovid gets compensated

It wouldn't surprise me. There's no standard metadata, and calibre entries are probably the most extended, it wouldn't be strange that Mantano decided to recognize what most users will be using... And this post says that's the case.

Don't copy and paste code you don't understand, you can break things that work... That said, the code looks OK.

Did you have the book with no series added to the library already before modifying the metadata? It could be that the metadata was read only when the book was first added, and further modifications to the book are not reflected in the library. Try to remove the book and add it again, or to add the series metadata to a book that has never touched the Mantano.

If that works, you can add the series metadata with Sigil, I believe. Just add custom metadata fields named "calibre:series" and "calibre:series_index".
