Aww. No more Kinsey Milhone books. And she was fairly young as well, cancer sucks.

I'm pretty certain she would have preferred to have finished the series. OTOH, it's entirely possible that she was working on Z is for Zero and enough has been completed plus, hopefully, a decent outline to allow it to be completed as she would have wished.

Sadly there will be no Z. The family said she wouldn't want the series to be finished by a ghost writer.
Thought and prayers to her family. Sue Grafton, Best-Selling Author Of Kinsey Millhone Alphabet Mysteries, Dies At 77 |

I have a lot of respect for them and their position and that they'll honor Grafton's wishes. Too many heirs cash in as much and as long as they can. It shows no respect at all for an author's body of work.

It would be different if they did it more honestly. If they either left off the original author's name, or put it in very small text, but they make it look like that author wrote it until you look closely. I think this is cheating and I think it's done this way in order to make the cheating as effective as possible. In general I'm against the death penalty but I'm not sure it would be wrong to make exceptions for publishers. Barry |

One of the local cab drivers here was just reading one of her books the other week. He drives the handicapped van (for those who are wheelchair bound) and in between pick ups he will take time to read. I know of the series though I haven't gotten round to reading them myself. A shame that she didn't get to finish it. I gather the cancer hit her very hard, very quickly. Something similar happened to my uncle Butch some yrs back. He'd never been sick then they found he had cancer just before Thanksgiving and he died just after Christmas that same year. It proves that you never know just how much time you really do have in this world.
