Editing custom date metadata
Hi All,
I have some custom date fields in a calibre library (to do with source currency and provenance). The custom metadata fields are presented with the field label to the left, the field value to the right (with a drop down that puts up a date picker when clicked), and below that two buttons, "Set '$field' to today" and "Clear '$field'". Is there a way to get these presented to the right of the field? There appears to be adequate space for "Today" (or "Set to today") and the regular clear (recycle) button. I took a screen shot (calibre date original.PNG) and did a quick mockup of what I have in mind (calibre date reformat.PNG). |

FWIW you can edit dates in the Book List by pressing F2 in the cell, then press '=' to set date to "Today", and '-' to set a date to "Undefined".
Avoids having to poke around in the Metadata Edit dialogue boxes. BR |

I'm usually not editing the values (they're mostly machine-generated), but I would like to save some vertical real estate. I have a lot of custom fields.

Is there a way to make a hot key that will just blank out dates? |

Job Spy does have an option to hotkey-fill columns but I think it only works for text ones. |

I changed edit metadata single and bulk to use the suggested layout.
