Going back to Elongated Man, his ability to stretch came from the juice of the gingold plant. He asked many circus rubber men how they were able to stretch but he wasn't able to get an answer. Eventually, he noticed that they all drank a soda pop with the juice of gingold as an ingredient (they just happened to like the taste). When he drank the juice, he suddenly found himself able to stretch. Not the most silly origin, but not the most epic one either. Later, they modified it where Elongated Man has a metagene that interacts with gingold juice to give him stretching powers. In some cases the character goes through a period of refinement before becoming the character that we know. Superman is an example of this. In the early days, he basically was a very strong man with tougher than average skin. Many of the things we now associate with Superman didn't come from the comics themselves but from other sources (radio, cartoons, and television), or came about because it was practical. An example of this is X-Ray vision: it eliminated the need for Superman to smash through walls to see what is going on. On the Marvel side, gamma radiation (which in the real world only has one real effect: to kill you) has been refined to basically manifest the inner you. The Hulk is a manifestation of Bruce Banner's inner rage, while She-Hulk is a free spirit and very happy with being She-Hulk (when she was given the good news/bad news about losing the ability to revert to her normal form, she asked "What's the bad news?"). |

At some point in the future humans will develop the technology to assemble, among other things, food items at a molecular level. When this happens, I predict that the people of that time will look upon the idea of eating plants in the same way vegans today look upon the idea of eating meat.

I've got a 22" monitor 2' from my face. I think I'd like one of those 32" movie screens Dylrob has.
Sorry. That's too on topic. Didn't mean to transgress. Now, back to our regularly scheduled off-topic chatter ............... |

What determines how pleasing a typeface looks. So many people dislike Comic Sans, yet I find it a very pleasing-to-the-eye typeface when used properly. It's not appropriate for every situation, and it has often been over used, but I find it a very easy to read typeface.
Other typefaces have become accepted, such as: Helvetica, Georgia, Verdana, Courier, and Times New Roman. Yet others, like Papyrus, Curlz, and Jokerman seem to be out of place. Yet, why is that? Why does the typeface have such an affect on the text rendered. It seems like type something in Jokerman would make something less serious regardless of the content of the text. |

I saw an article on Comic Sans recently that called it the most loved and most hated of all fonts. Is this even true, or was the author just trying to generate controversy? I've always liked it and frequently used it. Comic Sans is one of my favorites. No, I wouldn't use it for everything (it's probably not the best font to use on the obituary page), but it has its uses.

I agree with you both. I like Comic Sans myself and use it frequently as well (when appropriate).

Thanks I was worried about it. What about some mushrooms, onion, chili powder and maybe half a can of beer and a dash of hot sauce?
