Kindle epub? Only dealbreaker for me

Hi,

I was wondering something.

I love the Kindle hardware (minus the lack of SD card) and want to buy a large format ereader. However all my books are epub or pdf! Some are pdfs I scanned and made myself. I know kindle does handle pdf but doesnt reflow it. Thats a major problem for me. Is there a way to get it to reflow pdfs like my sony PRS600 does?

Aside from that, if pdf cant be reflowed, then is there a way to get it to display epubs? Preferably with reflow as well.

I run linux and have experience with rom flashing and modifying.

Any help appreciated.

Just use Calibre to convert your EPUB ebooks to MOBI format. It should convert them perfectly.

I find that in most cases Calibre does just fine at converting epubs to mobi.
A couple books have some formatting quirks, but most are fine.

You might download Calibre and convert a couple and then view the results.

And of course you can always send the kindle back if it doesn't work out.

On PDFs with a DX the multi-column papers might be viewable as-is unless you
have poor eyesight and want bigger fonts.

Or you can try this:
http://code.google.com/p/papercrop/
or
PDFread
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21906

Both claim to convert multi column PDFs to single

As noted, Calibre will convert epubs without drm beautifully.

As for the pdfs, you are better off with the DXG, it does a great job.
