OK - having killed the thread (no fans of B&W screwball mystery/comedy movies?) - answer is in spoiler tags - anyone want to launch a new quiz?

Spoiler:
The Thin Man

OKay, since there are no other takers.

I shall resist the temptation to use "Don't let him park the car, Dickie" on the grounds it would be too easy for at least one person, and instead shall go with the (hopefully easy):

"The principle of Buddhism is not "every man for himself", and the London Underground is not a political movement."

I have no idea what movie the actual quote is from, though I did recognize the 1st quote.
Spoiler:
Murder by Death

You're right about the car parking quote.

As for the real quote, some hints:

It's a comedy.

It's British.

Another couple of quotes:

"Don't call me stupid." (used repeatedly by one character)

"He said 'Why'd they name her after a car?'" (or something close to that)

Correct! (though the "he said" quote is said by Jamie Lee Curtis to John Cleese, but it was reporting something that Kevin Kline had said earlier...)

Your go.

The same cast was sadly unable to recapture lightning in a bottle when they reunited for "Fierce Creatures" years later.

Anyway, Happy Holidays, everyone!
