I agree about BB. I was looking at the Kindle HDX 7" (blue fringe by the way) and also the Ipad Air. A very rude BB employee turns off the screen I was looking at. I said well okay I don't need to shop here, and left. No 8.9" there. I really would like the 8.9", is it heavy?

Last time I go there. I will go to Staples, they do care and deserve your business. BB has been going downhill for some time now, particularly when Circuit City was closed, they must have felt no competition so treat customers crummy.

If things go wrong with your Kindle at Staples can you contact Amazon or is it strictly 30 days at Staples? I know Amazon will replace up to a year if problems. The last Kindle I had shipped was the K4 this last month and the box was ripped on one side in several places, almost opened. But the Kindle was okay so far. I asked Amazon about the shipping method and really got nowhere. So I am thinking go to Staples.....

You can always leave packaging feedback on Amazon. It's on the order page. Believe if you let them know that way you will be contacted about it. I've done it for a hubby's textbook. Amazon emailed me and offered a replacement but they didn't have any in stock and school was in two days so he decided he could live with it.

Yes if you buy a Kindle anywhere Amazon will will replace it but it's just easier to exchange it where you bought it till their return policy days run out then go through Amazon for everything else.

It's just not Best Buy that's rude. We got alot of great sales guys here at BB not very knowledgeable but they do try.. It's just Kids in general who don't care about people. No respect is being taught these days. The kids who live next door to me have shown me that whatever attitude with their generation is a serious problem. It's scary to think what their Kids will grow up to be like!

That's just something someone posted here that their friend told them it's not true The blue border is light bleed from blue LEDs that's all it is. Amazon didn't design it very well or the factory they assign to making it cut corners somewhere. It's good to know they are correcting the issue on the later units.

The one I have is very blue on one side but the other 3 sides are faint. I can live with it because the screen is very sharp and crisp compare to the past two.

That's great if you can't see it on a white background you got a good one! Now look for subtle flicking like the auto brightness is on in Books and Docs and Settings. These are the area this has been reported.

I know of 3 other people who had this happen including me so its best to go looking for it.

On the reader it did it only on certain themes.

Make sure you can search your music and books and check the sound. That should be it.

I added arrows for those who can't see. They are the same just one points out the areas that bleed into the reading. This is no border it's random where the blue shows up. Oh I know I said right side but in the new case right has become left and top has become bottom.

I can overlook it. I'm not picky as some think but this a design flaw of a new feature and I am sure on next year's model it will be fixed or maybe even further batches down the road.

I checked my new Fire HDX and there might be just a slight hint at the edges when it has the white background, but it may be me trying to make it so, I appreciate the explanation from another poster who was told it was to soften the viewing, kinda strange, but ok. Anyway, if its there, its not really noticeable on my unit and dont see it at all on sepia. I have to say, I dont see the sort of blotchy yellowness I saw on my Fire HD. This screen does seem improved for reading books.

It's not a filter that person was told wrong I've talk to three Kindle Specialists. It's just light bleed. I know what you mean by blotchy yellow the one I am sending back has blotchy greenish yellowish to it.

It's amazing for reading. I loved my first one to pieces. It sounds like the one you got is like my first one. This one has a better screen but a more noticeable blue border especially on one side that shows up on even dark backgrounds.

I haven't tried to read on it yet that's my next step but I love the form factor of the HDX which is why I keep trying to get a good one! What case do you get? I am going to make case thread here shortly.

I distinctly remember the BB employee saying the display for Kindle Fires are up to those reps to make them available on the kiosk.

I do not know the business model for BB per se but we all see now various manufacturer reps in the store like from Samsung, Microsoft, Kindle, Google etc. Maybe BB employess rather not deal with the devices from those companies and most give those customers the cold shoulder?

I did not make it to BB last night, I'll try this morning. I did not see the 8.9 at Staples yesterday either. That store is right next to BB. Looking forward to checking out the "killer" display and the unit being lighter than Air!

I still haven't' had a chance to do much with it beyond going to settings and getting things set the way I want them. The screen is beautiful. The unit is very light and very thin. I'm waiting for my case which should be here today. So far everything is working perfectly. Not being a fan of the Silk browser I did get the Dolphin browser running via 1mobile.com. I also tried to get the Hacker's keyboard installed but the HDX choked on that. My fire HD would take it though. Maybe an update will take care of that. I have had no heat problems. The battery seems to work just fine. I was on it for about 3 hours yesterday and still had lots of battery left.

So far it looks like a keeper. There are a lot of other things to try out and hopefully I'll get to that sometime today.

Thanks Blossom. I may buy at Staples. I think I complained on a chat with Amazon. I thought I did feedback on packaging also senior moment can't remember. I did mention on trade-in (chat line) that the package was so damaged that my value would be low, the CSR said no the package doesn't matter that is not what I hear on MR.

As for rude kids I agree, I contribute it to broken marriages, or no marriages, no guidance from parents.... Indeed scarey.

It shouldn't change the trade in value I don't think.

I contribute it to TV and role models these kids have. I come from a abusive broken home and it's no excuse. I no longer watch Disney Channel because they make it look like it's funny to be rude , have no manners and to dis your parents.

You making me want one but it's too big for me! I couldn't hold it. So this proves that Amazon lied BIG TIME with the blue border.

We use it give you perfect color. yeah right. if that was the case the 8.9 would have blue LEDs.

I got the 8.9 yesterday as well. Can't believe how much thinner it is, and the display is awesome! I also got the origami cover, and love that as well. I did notice you have to be on home to get the camera to come on when you push up the kindle. And when I email books to my kindle, they have no cover. Oh well. I bought it for movies (that is why I bought the 64G), and those are fantastic! Specifically bought this so I could download prime movies for the plane.

The covers issue can be fixed. It's in one of this thread but first it has to huge! like I'm using 1066x1600 size and second you have to email it to Fire you can't download the doc from the cloud.

From what I understand they are using white leds in the 8.9. I was also reading in the Kindle forum at Amazon that a guy said that a coworker was complaining about light bleed on the 8.9 and was thinking about returning it. He said he showed her his 7" hdx and told her there was nothing wrong with her tablet.
