It's actually fairly mild today, got near 50F today.
Whereas it was about 15F overnight last night.

I flew back from visiting my son and his wife in Tampa a few weeks ago, it consistently got up to about 70F while I was there, and those Floridians were raving about how nice the weather was. When I arrived home I texted him to let him know I'd arrived, and told him about learning that we geezers have a special line at TSA that's somewhat less invasive.

He replied "Cool"

I texted back, "No, warm; finally"

Poohbear, I was in your neck of the woods before flying to Florida, actually a little north of you in Virginia Beach. Nearly froze my li'l okole off!

The high temperature was in the low 40s (F) but there was a pretty steady wind (12 to 15 mph) out of the west so it felt colder. The sky was mostly sunny. A nice break from the past couple of days of overcast skies and rain.

The window behind my computer monitor faces west and right now there are just enough clouds in the sky to make the last light of sunset interesting.

I'm waiting to hear thunder today. I live by my grandmother's adage that if you hear thunder in the winter, you'll have snow on the ground in a few weeks' time.

We've had a long spell of grey and damp/wet weather. Today was supposed to be sunny, but it was mostly cloudy again. Warm for the time of year, 12C. Currently it's raining, again. It should get dry before midnight, the next two days should be dry and sunny. We'll see.

After that it'll be back to the grey and damp/wet weather again. I do hope it'll rain on New Year's Eve, that way people will set off less fireworks and start getting quiet earlier than when it's dry.

We had freezing rain from Monday afternoon until Tuesday night. Not really an ice storm, but it was overcast all day Tuesday and never got warm enough for the rain to stop freezing, let alone melt. There were some power outages as tree limbs and wires came down, but we were fine. Driving was okay on the main roads.

It's supposed to be very cold for the next few days, but sunny, so the ice shouldn't last much longer.

Did you get thunder? We had it in Charlotte night before last. Hubby was at the coast, he said they had thunder over night too.
