We've got record breaking heat this week, and moderate air quality levels that are keeping us coughing. The airport set a new record yesterday of 91 degrees.

99* today in Charlotte. Broke a record. Hubby and I chose the hottest damn day of the year to start taking down the fence. In the sun, all afternoon. Yup, we are smart!

We hit the mid-90s today -- a new record for the day. It was mostly sunny through the mid-afternoon, but the clouds have rolled in half an hour ago and it's heavily overcast now. It should start raining soon, but it's not expected to cool down by much.

After weeks of record breaking heat -- it's finally fall -- temps in the 60's today -- chilly this morning -- dare to dream!

Dream? What, you want the -20F winter temperatures we get occasionally? Poem I memorized eons ago:
As a rule, man is a fool. When it's hot, he wants it cool. When it's cool, he wants it hot. Always wanting what is not! |

Grey and wet, again. We've had some dry days and a little bit of sun in the past two weeks but not much. Today will be another drizzly day. Next week it might get drier. It's also been colder than normal, though on Sunday it'll be warmer than normal.

Today we had another in a string of very nice days. The sky has been variably cloudy but bright, the temperatures have gotten to the low 70s (F), and we've had some gentle breezes.
The coastal areas have experienced some strong flooding due to storm surges from an offshore storm. We have left the season where my wife was hot and I was comfortable and we're entering the season where my wife is cold and I'm comfortable. (BTW, she hates it when I say that, so let's just keep it between us, okay?) |

Got through the bomb cyclone with no worse than a five-hour power outage, and that mostly overnight. Not that I was sleeping. I'm ready for the wind to stop blowing now.
