Amazon Kindle Fire HD 10 sideload by windows 10 usb books in Mobi format January 2019

I am certainly not an expert. I am sideloading using a Windows 10 laptop, windows file explorer
I did not use Caliber to manage my kindle

I have found that to sideload mobi books to the Kindle Fire HD 10 you have to copy to :

This PC\Fire\Internal storage\Android\data\com.amazon.kindle\files\Books

I have found to sideload mobi books to SD card on Kindle HD 10 you have to copy to a directory that looks like :

This PC\Fire\Storage device\Android\data\com.amazon.kindle\files\Books\ amzn1.account.AGMMMM6K22WYR68G8RR4IEAMAKHQ

Anecdotal superstitions for sideloads:

1. You should download a book from Amazon first. I bought a free kindle book and downloaded it to the Fire HD 10.

2. You should only sideload one Mobi the first time, let the Kindle catchup.
When first Mobi shows up in books then sideload as many as you want at a time.

3. Install SD card , go to options make sure all options checked yes.
Wait for popup telling you that there is a SD card .
Make sure you have downloaded at least 1 book from Amazon.
Turn the Kindle off and restart.

4. Sideload one mobi to internal before sideloading to SD card.
Make sure it shows in books

5. You should only sideload one Mobi the first time to the SD card, let the Kindle catch up.
When first Mobi on SD card shows up in books then sideload as many as you want at a time.

The Kindle can be very slow to find the sideloaded books.

I sideloaded MP4 movies. The internal Movies folder works fine. I wanted to sideload to the SD card, so I created new folder Movies on SD card . Kindle Fire HD immediately found the movies.
