Book blurbs?

I was letting my daughter browse my ebooks on Calibre. Since she didnt recognize most of the authors or titles, she wanted a description of the book to see if it might interest her. Only a fraction of my books had descriptions available. Is there a way to import something like the descriptions on book dust jackets into Calibre? She wasnt willing to look each one up, nor risk something her Dad liked. LOL.

Select a few books in the list and then right click > edit metadata > Download metadata and covers. (If for some reason it's missing go to Preferences (Ctrl+P) > Toolbars and Menus > Context Menu for Books in Library and add the Edit Metadata there.) It should grab you some descriptions or sometimes reviews. Then you can view them in the book details.

I suggest using Review Metadata in the rare case it tries to grab the wrong book.

Calibre has a few metadata plugins included already but you can get more by going to Preferences > Plugins > Get new plugins.

My problem with downloading the metadata is that it can also mess up your tags. Be sure to select 'configure' and uncheck stuff you don't want changed.

The messed-up tags is why I prefer to use the bulk download > review metadata method.
