Latest Firmware - Font Problems?

Anyone having font changing problems with the latest PW2 firmware?

I bought a book today, ran it through DeDRM and calibre, and sent to device.

It now insists on sticking with Helvetica, which being a sans serif face, is difficult to read large bodies of text.

Curious as to whether a direct download from Amazon (assuming you bought the book from Amazon) would have the same problem?

I bought it from the Kobo store (as I've done many times in the past).

The file lands as DRM'd Adobe Digital Editions, which I fulfill, run through DeDRM and into calibre.

The file has no problems with font selection in calibre's reader.

Wierd...sent it over from calibre as MOBI (neither AZW3 or ePUB made a difference), and now it's behaving normally.

Another reason to like calibre.

You have to check the ePub's CSS. There could be some sort of font-family in the CSS that's blocking the font change. It's very easy to remove those using Calibre's Edit book and then convert to AZW3 from there.

When using Calibre to convert to AZW3 format, under the Look & Feel Options--in the middle of the page there's a tab labeled "Filter Style Information". On this tab, there's an option to completely remove fonts. This should remove all the font information coded in the book and the Kindle default fonts should work as expected. Note--this will strip all the font information, so if the book contains special fonts for different parts of text, etc these will all be removed.

@scottmc: It's a known PW1 & PW2 bug from earlier firmware versions. Read the details here .
