Vicious by V. E. Schwab is $2.99 on Amazon.com.

This was her first adult novel. The sequel is coming out in September.

Goodreads

Quote:
Victor and Eli started out as college roommates—brilliant, arrogant, lonely boys who recognized the same sharpness and ambition in each other. In their senior year, a shared research interest in adrenaline, near-death experiences, and seemingly supernatural events reveals an intriguing possibility: that under the right conditions, someone could develop extraordinary abilities. But when their thesis moves from the academic to the experimental, things go horribly wrong.

Ten years later, Victor breaks out of prison, determined to catch up to his old friend (now foe), aided by a young girl whose reserved nature obscures a stunning ability. Meanwhile, Eli is on a mission to eradicate every other super-powered person that he can find—aside from his sidekick, an enigmatic woman with an unbreakable will. Armed with terrible power on both sides, driven by the memory of betrayal and loss, the archnemeses have set a course for revenge—but who will be left alive at the end?

Edward Stasheff is working on making his father's work available as ebooks. If you visit http://christopher.stasheff.com/store/store_default.htm and click the ebooks link on the left, you can see which are available. Most of the books show a $4.99 US price but when I picked up a couple of the Wizard in Rhyme series, Kobo Canada had them at $3.99 Cdn.

The two that I would like to get in ebook form are Quicksilver's Knight and The Spell-Bound Scholar.

Friday by Robert Heinlein

From Arc Manor / Phoenix Pick:

Friday by Robert Heinlein is on sale on Amazon for $2.99 (regular $6.99). Why only on Amazon? its an Amazon special which they set up. The sale runs all of August. This is a US only sale because of rights that we own.

Quote:
“His best since The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.” Jerry Pournelle

“A charming protagonist in a story as sleekly engineered as a starship. This one should fly.”—Publishers Weekly

“One of Heinlein’s best, which is to say one of the best in all of Science Fiction—terrific story with a superbly realized heroine and world.”—Poul Anderson

Friday is a secret courier and ardent lover. Employed by a man she only knows of as
Spoiler:
“Boss”, she is given the most awkward and dangerous cases, which take her from New Zealand to Canada, and through the new States of America’s disunion, all the way out into the stars and the new colony of Botany Bay.
Thrust into one calamity after another, she uses her enhanced wits and very many skills to evade, seduce or even kill her way out of any sticky situation she finds herself in. For she is both superior and inferior to the average human.

As an AP—artificial person—the best humanity has to offer has been written into Friday’s DNA. Yet she is often treated like a second class citizen—if she were ever able to claim citizenship. Her mother was the test tube and her father the knife, as the saying goes, so she has less rights than the biologically-born human, and no soul, according to the church.

But in Friday Heinlein has created one of the most enlightened, warm, engaging and humane characters in the science fiction field, gifting us a novel of female empowerment that was well ahead of its time.

“One of Heinlein’s best, which is to say one of the best in all of Science Fiction—terrific story with a superbly realized heroine and world.”—Poul Anderson
bernie

P.S.

Heinlein special starting soon August 20th which will run for all major online retailers in the US (Kobo, Apple, BN and Amazon). Podkayne of Mars will be reduced in price from $6.99 to $2.99 for these three days.

Andy Weir's Artemis is a 99p Daily Deal at Amazon UK.

Quote:
WELCOME TO ARTEMIS. The first city on the moon.
Population 2,000. Mostly tourists.
Some criminals.

Jazz Bashara is one of the criminals. She lives in a poor area of Artemis and subsidises her work as a porter with smuggling contraband onto the moon. But it’s not enough.

So when she’s offered the chance to make a lot of money she jumps at it. But though planning a crime in 1/6th gravity may be more fun, it’s a lot more dangerous…

Star Trek: Destiny trilogy on sale for 99 cents each. Highly recommended, probably the best Trek trilogy there is.

Also the Star Trek: Errand of Fury trilogy for 99 cents each. Seems to be about Klingons.

The Harper Connelly collection is also £3.99:

Not quite such a good deal (there's only 4 books in the series), but it clears more paper books from the library.

The Dune collection was in the Christmas sale last year, so check your records.

Grabbed the Charlaine Harris - 6 books for £4 is a good bargain! Looks like there's not been another collection though - which is a pity.

Also spotted:

The Lyonesse Trilogy by Jack Vance for £3.99

10 titles in the Xeelee Sequence by Stephen Baxter for £3.99:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xeelee-Sequ...ncz+collection

Time's Tapestry by Stephen Baxter at £3.99:

(Note that the Destiny's Children series are a separate entry as well as included here.)

The Confluence Trilogy by Paul McAuley for £3.99

The best way to look is to search Amazon for 'Gollancz collection' - about half the results are stand-alones, but the rest appear to be some quite good bargains.
