uts.amazon.com message on Firefox browser

I decided last night to download firefox as explorer was having a tantrum (this is a new laptop). So this morning as I am browsing another forum, at the bottom left of the browser was this message:

"sending data from uts.amazon.com"

Now, I have downloaded books from Amazon using this computer, but has anyone else noticed this message? Should I be concerned about big brother? I was not on an Amazon site at the time, nor had been on Amazon site when I opened the browser for this session.

Why would a cookie results in data being sent from a site? A cookie is a completely "passive" thing - it's simply a file which stores data at the request of a web site. It cannot cause the browser to visit a web site.

Pushka,

If you are seeing this message in one particular forum, I suggest you contact the operators of that forum. If you are seeing it in FireFox but not IE, try posting a question in a Firefox-related forum (e.g. http://forums.mozillazine.org/).

You should also check your Firefox add-ins (if any). If you suspect a particular add-in is causing the problem, try disabling it to see if the message goes away.
