John Buchan, 1st Baron Tweedsmuir PC GCMG GCVO CH (26 August 1875 – 11 February 1940) was a Scottish novelist and Unionist politician who served as Governor General of Canada, the 15th since Canadian Confederation.

A classic tale of intrigue, treachery and adventure, set in 1745 as the Jacobite Rebels march south into England, telling the story of Alastair Maclean, a close confidant of Prince Charles Edward Stewart, who sets out on a secret mission to raise support for the Jacobite cause in the west of England.
