What you could do is deselect the Full Screen option from the Optimization settings. That way when you're reading using Moon+ Reader, just tap in the middle of the screen and you will be able to see the Onyx top bar. You could then press twice on the circle with arrows in it to switch from normal mode to A2 mode and back again. That will refresh your screen. A bit of a clumsy workaround, but it should do the trick. When you eventually get the 2.1 FW onto your device, you can enable the floating Navigation Ball app. You can program the app for up to five functions, one of which could be a screen refresh. I'm really liking the navigation ball because now I no longer need third party apps to take a screenshot. |

Thanks, everyone for participating.
I got the Onyx Boox Nova (the one without the stylus). Overall I am happy with the device. The screen on the Nova is better than the Likebook Mars. The software is better too. There are areas that the Likebook Mars is better, e.g. using Mars's keyboard is faster and smoother. One problem I noticed with neoreader is that the highlighting functionality in PDF documents isn't consistently accurate. Also, highlighting becomes unusable if you select the underline option. I installed KOReader - both stable and nightly versions - but noticed the screen flickers when you select a menu or highlight texts. It is really annoying - does anyone else have this problem? |

I gave a try to chinese 2.1 and rollbacked by sideloading previous firmware with no issues.
Though i liked some things in new version of neoreader , especially for epub, i didn't like pdf zoom features and the top right icon for browsing/closing recent app / clean memory wasn't working if i put italian instead of english as default language. It was always crashing with some sort of "system UI error". Better to wait, after all i'm fine with 26 december firmware, i updated just for curiosity |

I'm on the Boox Note Pro, and was only able to stop the KOReader flickering by turning on A2 mode (but don't know whether the Nova has such an option?). This also prohibited the screen from fully refreshing -- which is especially awful when booting the app -- but manually switching to night mode and back works to induce a full refresh.

Some customers who updated to firmware 2.1 in a abnormal way come across some unexpected bugs. Please wait for the final release of official update. DO NOT update in another way. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your understanding.

Does Nova (not pro) uses a normal glass or textured glass like kindles? I found the textured one far easier to eyes than the glossy ones. And it’s far nicer to touch

Where is the NeoReader app and many other questions
How do I invoke the NeoReader on my Nova Pro? I opened Word and PDF docs in Dropbox and don't know how they are opening. There is no menu. I did remember choosing open using NeoReader but I cannot see any functionality once doc is open.
Where is the NeoReadrer app? I don't see it in the Apps area. How do I create new folders in the library area? I have to say this reader is the most complex piece of machinery I ever had to deal with. I also own the reMarkable tablet which at least initially appears to be light years ahead of onyx. I just bought the Boox NP yesterday so maybe just a very very very very very steep learning curve. |

How do I transfer docs to Nova Pro
Really dumb question. With the exception of using any cable or bluetooth (company locks us out of all USB ports on our laptops), how can I get docs from DropBox to the Nova Pro. Soryy for the dumb question, had to ask.

Amazon Kindle alternative?
Is there an eReader app that can read Amazon Kindle books? I am using the Kindle app on my Nova Pro and its very slow even with optimization with the animation setting to 300 and Regal checked. Understand there's the DRM thing but wanted to see if I missed any apps that can actually decipher and Amazon book.

A context menu will appear and the "open with" will list every installed app able to cope with that file. Quote:
From Library you can create "virtual shelves" with the icon close to the search one. Long press --> move will move a book from the main library to the virtual shelf. This is not like a real folder, if you browse the device from a computer, files are not changing position. You can create real folders using the same icon from Storage. The device will scan all the file system and present you everything aggregated together in Library. If you want to distinguish comics, or work, or some series, virtual shelves in library is the way to go. Quote:
I de-drmed the 4 or 5 kindle books i own with calibre and i use neoreader as default reading app for mobi as well. |
