Calibre tags My Shelves not importing to Kobo Glo any more?
Hi all,
I had set up Calibre before to use a specialized my tags (I think tags) that I called My Shelves, so that I could order my books in my Kobo Glo according to my own categories, like YA Realistic, YA Fantasy, Suspense, etc. But now every time I transfer new books over to my Kobo Glo, the tags/My Shelves aren't appearing with the books--I'm not seeing the books in those My Shelves on my Kobo Glo. I'm not sure what I need to do to fix this. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you. |

Are you using the base Kobo driver, or the Extended one?
Do you have metadata management set to automatic? Have you double / tripled checked all settings (and reread Quick Guide to Shelf Management with calibre 0.9.1 & above (Touch / Glo / Mini /Aura))? |

Yes, I used that link to set up the shelves in the first place on my Kobo Glo. And what is weird is that it used to work; i don't know why it doesn't know. I re-checked the settings; I am using the Kobo Touch 2.0.1.2 driver. When I went in to look at the details, though, it didn't have #myshelves listed any more, or "create bookshelves" checked off. I've changed those things, and am now going to resend some books to my Kobo and hope that that will work.

Oh, something else I've noticed that I don't know how to fix--many times when I first plug in my Kobo Glo, the memory card won't register/be picked up by Calibre. I have to eject the Kobo Glo and replug it in, sometimes multiple times.... Sometimes it also helps if I restart Calibre as well....

Hm. But now, after I changed the settings in the Kobo Touch driver, I keep getting this error message every time I try to connect my Kobo Glo:

Now, after I made those changes to the Kobo driver, and i connect my Kobo glo, it says "Error communicating with device."

Now after i made the Kobo touch device driver changes, it says every time i try to connect it:

When I searched the forums, I found a few other people having a problem (in 2012) with the error connecting to device with the memory card in Kobo, even though our computers can read the memory card and it shows up on our computers. But I couldn't find a solution, except that one person said that they put their device back to default. I'd rather not have to do that...BUT if it works and it's the only way, i guess i will.

I will fix it for this weeks calibre. In the meantime, uncheck the "Delete Empty Bookshelves" option in the driver configuration. That will prevent it from going through this code, and everything else should work correctly. It will mean you might have empty shelves, but hopefully there won't be many. |

Er--I unchecked the "delete empty bookshelves", and now I don't get the error message. Yay! BUT it's still not registering/showing my memory card with all the books on it, or allowing me to send books to the memory card. How do I fix that?

Is Windows showing the SD card as a drive? If not, then calibre can't find it. If it is, can you copy a file to it?
If Windows is seeing it OK and can copy to it, I need to see a debug log. To produce this, right click on the preferences icon and select "Restart in debug mode". Calibre will restart and display a message about the debug log. Then connect the device and wait for the jobs that get the book list from the device to finish. When they have, close calibre again. Notepad will be opened with the log. Post the contents of the log, or send to me in a PM. |

Yes, Windows sees it okay, and i can copy to it. The memory card is suddenly showing up in Calibre today; I don't know why, but i'm glad it is!
How do i replace the ebooks i already loaded on my Kobo (now that i have the correct settings) that don't show up on My Shelves? Do i just re-send them over? Thank you. |
