sony charger

I bought the 505 and wanted to find a way to recharge it even when there isnt a PC with USB available.
I found in a shop an AC - USB power adaptor from Sony, that the seller insists it's OK for any Sony usb device, but the specs say it generates 5V/500mA, while the charger for the reader at SonyStyle is said to generate 5.2V/2000mA.

Do you think it's OK anyway - or am I risking to burn something?

Thanks!

Alessandro

The specs you quote are for the charger that plugs into the charger socket, not a USB charger. It's a part of the USB spec that a device is only allowed to draw 500mA at 5V.

If you want a "charger socket" charger (which will charge a lot faster than USB), go to any game store and buy a PlayStation Portable (PSP) charger; it uses the same charger as the Reader.

Get a Sony PSP charger -- they're cheap, widely available, and the Sony reps were using them to charge the Readers at the Blogger's Day event so you can be pretty sure the work just fine.
