[GUI Plugin] Extract ISBN

Hello,
Thank you for this great plugin.
I'm using the latest version of Caliber 7.2 and the plugin can no longer find the ISBN in the ebook.
The problem has appeared for several versions of Calibre.
Am I the only one having this problem ?

As I posted on another plugin thread, my advice to anyone having issues with plugins is to just go back to Calibre 6.x and see if the problem goes away. Calibre 7.x has not been a problem free release and there are still pending changes awaiting release to fix more known about issues that broke some plugins.

As for not finding an ISBN - well the plugin hasnt changed at all so the only variables are the book you are choosing to scan and the calibre version. Not every book will be able to have it's ISBN found as has been talked about ad nauseum on this thread (or even necessarily have one present). If it is a book you are certain you scanned for ISBN in the past and it worked, then downgrade calibre and confirm you are correct. If so then it is a calibre 7 created problem...

If there is an isbn in the metadata already does this plugin override just the isbn or the whole field or nothing?

{identifiers} is the destination in Calibre. It can only have 1 of any single type. It does not modify the book (directly).

So if your Library has no ISBN for that book, it gains one.
If it does, it will replace. You can configure it to Prompt before a change.

My personal opinion is to only run many plugins against books that NEED the data.

BTW The Quality Check Plugin has a metadata ISBN check that finds malformed (fails check digit) ISBN

Thanks for the info. I was just curious how it worked. I will probably only use it for book that don't have the isbn already, but if I need to fix it this will be faster than having to manually change the isbn.

This plugin is mostly valuable when there is no metadata to download (Really old or obscure? ) from the typical sources. This actually look in the first few pages of the TEXT (copyright, card catalog listing) and scrapes that.

It's working fine for me... Two things I would try in that case:

- With Calibre closed, delete Extract ISBN.json from
%UserProfile%\Appdata\Roaming\calibre\plugins, then restart Calibre

- Check the config in Preference - Plugins - Customise Plugin:

Also, if you have a backup of the Calibre Config Folder, you could try restoring it
