How to invert the volume button controls?

I am using a boox nova air. I have figured out how to do a reverse portrait setup but I would like to reverse the volume up / and down button. I read

but that's for hardware buttons, and this is for volume buttons.

We're going to need more context; because I would assume volume buttons to be hardware keys

In any case, look at verbose debug logs and see what happens on keypresses?
