New fetch-ebook-metadata errors
For about a week now, this traceback text happens on every metadata fetch and is in the OPF file if -o is used, corrupting it. Happens on multiple computers and updating to the latest version doesn't fix.
fetch-ebook-metadata -i 9781681774886 Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\metadata\xisbn.py", line 59, in get_data File "site-packages\calibre\ebooks\metadata\xisbn.py", line 35, in fetch_data File "site-packages\mechanize\_mechanize.py", line 239, in open_novisit File "site-packages\mechanize\_mechanize.py", line 284, in _mech_open File "site-packages\mechanize\_opener.py", line 195, in open File "site-packages\mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 352, in _open File "site-packages\mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 340, in _call_chain File "site-packages\mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 1188, in http_open File "site-packages\mechanize\_urllib2_fork.py", line 1160, in do_open URLError: <urlopen error [Errno 10054] An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host> Title : The Little Book of Big History: The Story of the Universe, Human Civilization, and Everything in Between Author(s) : Ian Crofton & Jeremy Black Publisher : Pegasus Books Tags : History, World, General, Civilization Languages : eng Published : 2017-07-04T19:06:18.853000+00:00 Identifiers : isbn:9781681774886, google:HzIpDwAAQBAJ Comments : A lively history of the universe and human civilization, this authoritative volume tells the story of the cosmos, the stars, and human development on earth. The Little Book of Big History is an endeavor to encapsulate the entire story of the cosmos, from the Big Bang to the current day, into an engaging and comprehensive narrative. Combining methods from history, astronomy, physics, and biology to draw together the big story arcs of how the universe was created, why planets formed, and how life developed, the result is a unique perspective of mankind’s place in the universe. Excited by the alternative "framework for all knowledge" that is offered by this approach, Bill Gates is funding the Big History Project, which aims to bring this concept to a wider audience around the world. The Little Book of Big History breaks down the main themes of Big History into highly informative and accessible parts for all readers to enjoy. By giving a truly complete timeline of world events, this book shines a whole different light on science as we learned it and makes us think of our history—and our future—in a very different way. |

Forcibly closed means THEY slammed the door in your face.
You may have done something that got you on their block list (too many hits in a short time, your ISP had a user that did a DoS attack, thus blocking your IP range) You are in the wrong Locale, and are being rejected. You are ugly do you know which metadata site is rejecting you? |

I have tried other ISPs and still get an error message written to stdout or the OPF. Here is using my cellular service ISP. My main issue with this bug is that it breaks calibredb set_metadata using the resulting OPF.

Now that is a 408 timeout this time
Maybe you A/V is blocking (firewall) Calibre.. Whitelist it with your security suite or disable it JUST for a trial. |

That's a failure in the worldcat service used to lookup the earliest edition of the book. Failuresa re written to stderr and output to stdout. They dont corrupt each other unless you have to directed to the same place. For example, use
fetch-ebook-metadata whatever 2> /dev/null will redirect stderr to null hiding the error message (the above assumes you are on a unix OS) |

The failure is from the server, hopefully it is temporary, if not I'll ave to disable the worldcat earliest edition lookup.
