I've heard a rumor that there are e-libraries that you can join even if you don't live locally , is this a true story? If so where do I sign up? Thanks in advance! Jenn

I belong to the Free Library of Philadelphia. I paid $15 for a one year non-resident membership which expires in August. The price has now increased to $35 per year but I still think it's worth that, I'll renew.

jleliekelly: I also live in Maine and it's true; our choices are limited here. I also belong to the Free Library of Philidelphia and it's great. I just renewed my membership. I like the book selection and my husband goes through 2-3 audiobooks/week driving to jobs in his work van. Just be sure to pay attention to your annual renewal as they won't tell you when you expire; I sent my renewal check in Monday and am still waiting to access my account again; I miss it!

OverDrive Search for a Library

Click the above link, hit "Search for a Library", enter your zip code, then hit search. A list will then appear showing all libraries within a 100 miles of you with digital content.

Many libraries have reciprocal borrowing agreements with other nearby library systems allowing you to check out books from those libraries. I belong to over half a dozen library systems. Besides having a greater selection, you also have greater availability and possibly shorter wait times.
