Kindle in Canada book availability
I have researched the available devices and would love to get a Kindle. However, I'm in Canada and am somewhat concerned about the books that are available here. I've learned from my research that not all the e-books on Amazon are available in Canada
Can anyone tell me how the selection compares to what is available in the US? |

Hi chilli and welcome to MobileRead. I can't answer your question but someone ought to be able to shortly. If not, try posting your question on the Kindle section.

Welcome to mobileread .... There are many Canadian members here and they should be able to answer your question. Have a look in the Kindle Forum, see link from the main forum page. Alternatively there are excellent sources for free books - see links in my signature line - I you are interested in 'older' works there are many available here in the mobileread library that will fit nicely onto your Kindle. |

Good to have your company, Chilli. Geoff's suggestion is good. Check out a few reactions from Canadian members in the Kindle forums. Thing is that Kindle uses only its own Mobi format and that many books you might want come in ePub, the standard elsewhere. If these are padlocked by DRM, they cannot be legally converted to use on the Kindle. DRM-free books in other formats can, though, be converted to Mobi using free Calibre library software. Good luck and best wishes. Neil

Hello, Chili, and welcome. You've gotten some good suggestions here about checking with fellow Canadians on the forums.

Welcome to MR! A book's availability will depend upon the 'rights' the publisher holds. As for how what's available in US compares to Canada...perhaps the Canadians are better equipped to answer that :-)
