Troubleshooting Need to register with broken screen

I have a Kindle 4 (NT), Black.

The bottom half of the screen is broken. I need to register it. I can see the keyboard enough to type stuff in but once I click "done" I'm lost.

Any help/directions on how to get it registered would be appreciated. Thanks.

On the “Manage Your Kindle” page on Amazon.com there should be a link which tells you to “Register new Kindle”. You will need to enter your Kindle's serial number, which can be found on the back of the Kindle.

After much research I finally got the device attached to my account.

As I'd mentioned it had a half broken screen. The top half worked as it should, the bottom half was stuck on the last image that was on the device before it broke. As I didn't know the serial of the device and the box had long since been lost I didn't really have much options.

I found a screen shot of the keyboard online and used it to maneuver my way around and type my email etc in. Problem was I couldn't tell where yes, no etc was. So I started doing screen shots of my kindle (keyboard+menu for a few seconds). That worked out perfectly. True I had to connect it to my computer and start over from scratch every screen shot but after a bit I started to get it figured out. It helped that I could see half the screen... if I was working completely blind I'd probably still be trying stuff.

Thanks guys. Hopefully this solution helps someone else out too.

There is a scroller for broken screens...

Kindle NT has a way to get out the serial number if the screen is broken.

press HOME
press KEYBOARD and then LEFT PREV PAGE twice
press KEYBOARD and then MENU

This will create screenshot with the serial number in the "documents" directory.

If you look at the USB device ID properties (at least in Windows) it's in there too... The last section of the Device instance Path, Parent amongst others

Following your tip hunnymonster I also found that you can find the serial of the Kindle from under VirtualBox. No need to run it or anything... just add a filter for your usb device (in this case the Kindle) and the serial will come up... Like so.
