Most of the books in G.M. Ford's Leo Waterman series are on sale for $2 each at Amazon US as part of their "20 Kindle Books for $2 Each" sale. The sale says it's good through 9/30/2014.

You can just go to the sale (http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.htm...cId=1000858781) and pick them out, or you can search on "GM Ford", and then sort by price, and you'll see the ones which are available. Most of them have been on sale or free before, but if you missed one or two, or are new to this and haven't seen them on sale/free before, here are a bunch of them!

The ones I see for $2 are:

Who in Hell is Wanda Fuca?
Cast in Stone
The Bum's Rush
Slow Burn
Thicker than Water
Chump Change

Spoiler about the first book:
Spoiler:
This has to be one of the best puns ever in a title!

Free today on Amazon UK - Forests of the Night by David Stuart Davies
'1940. London is at war.
When World War II breaks out, the young policeman John Hawke enlists in the army.
His dreams of fighting for his country, however, are cut short after he loses an eye in rifle training.
Invalided out of the army and offered a desk job with the police, John sets up as a private investigator in London instead, hoping for excitement and danger.
In the autumn of 1940, John is hired to investigate the mysterious death of a young woman.
What is the connection between her brutal murder and the fading film actor Gordon Moore?
And is there a connection to the runaway boy who may have witnessed something terrible.'

Free today on Amazon UK - The Night She Died by Roger Ormerod
'Ten years on from closing the case, the name Connie Freeman means very little to Detective Inspector Richard Patton.
But when Connie turns up on his doorstep, the memory comes flooding back.
The memory of a brutal murder, of a woman bludgeoned to death.
The victim, Sylvia Thomas, was the mistress of Connie’s husband, the womaniser Harry Martin.
Connie knew of her husband’s infidelity and so Richard and his team assumed she possessed a motive - and they convicted Connie of murder.
It was a case he would rather forget, but now Connie has returned - and she is determined to prove her innocence.
The straightforward case of a wife seeking revenge on her husband’s mistress begins to unravel and Richard becomes more and more intrigued about what he had got wrong.
Now he is determined to find out the truth about Sylvia and what happened on 'The Night She Died'.'

Free today on Amazon UK - Raffles: A Perfect Wicket by Richard Foreman

'Raffles The Gentleman Thief returns in this magnificent third instalment of Richard Foreman's new series based upon the adventures of one of the classic characters of British fiction.
In Raffles: A Perfect Wicket, Bunny is worried for his great friend. Since the disappearance of Mary Flanagan (the events of which are contained in the story Raffles: Bowled Over) Raffles has grown despondent, sick with boredom.
Thankfully a remedy is found, in the form of an invite to a party. The host is Lord Rosebery no less. Raffles considers the opportunity to be "a perfect wicket" in terms of the the spoils to be had, and hatches a plan to rob the former Prime Minister.
Yet Lord Rosebery has also invited another guest up from London, a senior policeman, who confesses to Bunny that he has been tipped off that a notorious burglar will be attempting to rob the house over the weekend of the party.'

Free today on Amazon UK -No Easy Mission (Maddox Book 3) by Jack Hayes

'Maddox is weary and vengeful.
He has resigned himself to retirement and no longer wants to fight in a war that has cost the lives of so many friends. He certainly isn’t happy when his former colleague, US Major George Lyle, pays him a visit at his home.
But Lyle has a deal to offer. If Maddox joins him for two more missions, Lyle will leak five important names: the men who ordered Maddox’s previous team to their deaths.
Despite his doubts, Maddox agrees.
But the mission is one of his hardest yet.
It is January 1945 and the chances of Germany winning the war are fading. A breakaway group of Nazi extremists have uncovered a 13th Century plague pit in Poland and built a biological-weapons facility on the site.
Their plan is simple but deadly: release Pneumonic Plague – an airborne variant of the Black Death – through the Port of London.
With a mortality rate of more than 99%, the Nazis estimate at least 12 million will die. To prevent the disease spreading, Britain will be forced to close her ports. Supplies to the Western Front will dry up.
Germany will crush the Allies in France.
Rather than destroy the monastery with an aerial bombardment and risk unleashing the plague, the Allies need men on the ground to infiltrate the compound and destroy it.
Maddox and Lyle put together a small, specialist unit to go behind enemy lines.
But the Germans have captured a member of the Polish Resistance who has knowledge of the attack.
The Nazis know Maddox is on his way… '

The description sounds more horror than thriller.

Ten by Gretchen McNeil is $1.99 [HarperCollins] at most retailers.

https://play.google.com/store/books/...rtWo_mUC&hl=en

Quote:
From Possess author Gretchen McNeil comes this teen horror novel inspired by Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. Perfect for fans of Christopher Pike’s Chain Letter and Lois Duncan’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, Ten will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very last page!
It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie are looking forward to two days of boys, booze, and fun-filled luxury. But what starts out as fun turns twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine. And things only get worse from there.
With a storm raging outside, the teens are cut off from the outside world . . . so when a mysterious killer begins picking them off one by one, there’s no escape. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on one another, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

Medicus (also pub as Ruso and the Disappearing Dancing Girls) is the Kindle US Daily Deal today, Sept 4. It's on sale for $1.99. It's the first in the rather good mystery series featuring Gaius Petreius Ruso, a Roman army doctor, and his companion in solving crimes, Tilla. The series is mostly set in Roman Britain. Keep in mind that I'm a big historical mystery fan, so I'm biased towards these sorts of mysteries...but I've quite liked this series so far.

The second book in the series, Terra Incognita (also pub as Ruso and the Demented Doctor) is also on sale, for $1.99, as part of the US "200 Kindle books for $1.99 Each" sale, which I think is a monthly sale good through Sept 30.

Medicus: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013TX7NY/
Spoiler:
Quote:
Divorced and down on his luck, Gaius Petreius Ruso has made the rash decision to seek his fortune in an inclement outpost of the Roman Empire, namely Britannia. In a moment of weakness, after a straight thirtysix-hour shift at the army hospital, he succumbs to compassion and rescues an injured slave girl, Tilla, from the hands of her abusive owner.
Now he has a new problem: a slave who won't talk and can't cook, and drags trouble in her wake. Before he knows it, Ruso is caught in the middle of an investigation into the deaths of prostitutes working out of the local bar. Now Ruso must summon all his forensic knowledge to find a killer who may be after him next.

With a gift for comic timing and historical detail, Ruth Downie has conjured an ancient world as raucous and real as our own.

Terra Incognita: http://www.amazon.com/Terra-Incognit...dp/B003Z6QLEA/
Spoiler:
Quote:
It is spring in the year of 118, and Hadrian has been Emperor of Rome for less than a year. After getting involved with the murders of local prostitutes in the town of Deva, Doctor Gaius Petreius Ruso needs to get out of town, so has volunteered for a posting with the Army on the volatile border where the Roman-controlled half of Britannia meets the independent tribes of the North. Not only is he going to the hinterlands of the hinterlands, but it his slave Tilla's homeland and she has some scores to settle there. Soon they find that Tilla's tribespeople are being encouraged to rebel against Roman control by a mysterious leader known as the Stag Man, and her former lover is implicated in the grisly murder of a soldier. Ruso, unwillingly involved in the investigation of the murder, is appalled to find that Tilla is still spending time with the lover. Worse, he is honour bound to try to prove the man innocent - and the Army wrong - by finding another suspect. Soon both Ruso's and Tilla's lives are in jeopardy, as is the future of their burgeoning romantic relationship.

Thirding the recommendation for Ruth Downie's Medicus and sequels, if someone might be thinking of picking them up.

I really liked the 1st one after having read it when it had been a freebie several years ago, and went to the library for the next few. (ETA: Huh, apparently I bought #2 twice over when it was on sale for 99 cents in multiple stores. I must have really liked #1.)

They're couponable @ Kobo as well, IIRC (though sometimes the Kobo search mistakenly marks things as couponable which aren't), and I think I might use up some of the deep-discount contest codes on them while they're still working.
