HTML code fo Footnote pop-ups

There are older threads on this subject, but Amazon's recommendations seem to possibly have changed since there, so I thought I'd better start a new thread.

They have the following recommendation for footnotes in their Text Guidelines - Reflowable - Footnote Guidelines. It is their first choice solution and mentions it for pop-ups and accessability.

Code:
<p>This footnote example uses the aside element with the epub:type
attribute and bi-directional hyperlinks.<a id="source" href="#ft-1-1"
epub:type="noteref">1</a></p>
...
<aside id="ft-1-1" epub:type="footnote">

<p><a epub:type="noteref" href="#source">1.</a> This is the footnote text,
which should be placed at the end of the chapter or book.</p>

</aside>
I've tried it and it seems to work, but it is a pain to go through and change the HTML in two places for each footnote. I also had to add "xmlns:epub="http://www.idpf.org/2007/ops" to the HTML definitions or whatever that part of the code is called, since the "aside" is an epub attribute rather than HTML, if I am understanding things correctly.

The HTML after my manual changes seems to work as expected in a variety of different type of files (epub, mobi, KFX, KFZ, etc.)

I came here to see if there was a place to request new features, and found this forum which seemed like a good place to start since there were plenty of other posts about "footnotes". It would be nice if this HTML was either used as the default formatting for Conversions by the Edit Ebook software or if there was a setting we could indicate how we wanted footnotes formatted when we converted files using the Edit Ebook software.
