While Harry has shared with us Alan Pinkerton's "true" accounts of his agency's efforts to fight crime in the US, there was a time when Presidents and even ex-Presidents were fair game for all. (Some may feel that this time has yet to pass with the attempts on George H. W. Bush and Jerry Ford.)

This is the story -- complete with testimony -- of the attempt on Teddy Roosevelt after he left office. (Remember that he came into office on the assassination of the prior President.)
