I thought that color LCD screens are backlit. But the monochrome TFT screens of the jetBook and Libre are not backlit.
I wonder if this is a color non-backlit TFT screen. If it is backlit, what makes it a TFT? |

I tried to find more specs on this... but apparently Paradigm Shift Sourcing and Manufacturing Co doesn't seem to have a web presence. At least not that I could find.

TFT LCDs come in 2 general flavors: transmissive and reflective (and transflective if you like betweeners). The one in this device is transmissive. The jetBook's is reflective. |

Definitely worth finding out if that's true of these before deciding whether to get one. While there are people who'd be happy with a plaintext ebook reader, they'd probably very much like to know that before purchase. |

Looks to be the same hardware as this reader, under a different brand name:

The white one sure looks like the Delstar reader I returned.

I wonder if Paradigm Shift has any idea of the disaster Delstar made of the OpenBook release? Once can only pray it has completely different software than the identical one currently on Delstar's Website.
It is a cute little reader and I would have loved to have kept mine. I returned it because, as Elfwreck put it, "Biggest problem with the Delstar--aside from screwy firmware and lack of customer support--was that it supported several ebook file types, but no formatting; all the books showed as plain text, no bold or italic. Possibly no pictures inside the ebooks; possibly no links or ToCs." |
