William Livingston Alden (1837-1908) was an American journalist and humourist, who served as a diplomat in Rome 1885-1890, and then remained in Europe until shortly before he died in 1908.
This book is a colllection of his short stories, consisting of an American abroad, telling what amount to "tall stories". There are 13 stories amounting to some 30,000 words, and with 29 illustrations.
