Yes for sure. TFT Backlite is straining the eyes. For continous reading e-ink is the only option. e-ink is completely different - it is a reflective technology: like paper.

Tablet PC is good for daily work except for reading long texts.

I'm a PhD student in math and I'm using the Sony Reader. I can't take notes on it, but with the availability of so many papers in PDF, and the great PDF2LRF tool, I get by. The papers look fabulous on the eink screen. A tablet PC, however, is appealing, but not cheap. I do wish I had a text search function on the reader.
